Everything seems to be going well in Dallas. Dak Prescott has made his return from a season-ending hamstring injury, the Cowboys have acquired new offensive playmaker George Pickens as their wide receiver, and now, Micah Parsons has asked for a trade.
On Friday, Parsons shared a lengthy statement on X, expressing that he “no longer” wishes to remain in Dallas after having done everything he could to communicate his desire and has officially “submitted” a trade request to Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones.
This news comes just hours after a report from The Athletic revealed that the relationship between Parsons and the Cowboys has “deteriorated to the point” where Parsons is contemplating significant actions, including the possibility of a trade or even a declaration to sever ties with the team. The report mentioned that the Cowboys had previously believed they were nearing an agreement with Parsons earlier this year, as he had been in direct negotiations with team owner Jerry Jones. However, Parsons viewed those discussions as informal and decided to involve his agent to continue the talks, after which Jones reportedly declined to engage with the agent.
The two parties are currently “far apart” on a deal. Although Parsons has been present in Dallas, he has not taken part in team practices.
In terms of potential contract models for Parsons, two noteworthy deals were signed this offseason: Myles Garrett’s four-year, $160 million contract with the Cleveland Browns and T.J. Watt’s three-year, $123 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, both of which reset the market for pass-rushers. rcm philippines
Last season, Parsons achieved a total of 12.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 43 combined tackles over 13 regular-season games, having missed four weeks due to an ankle injury. According to Pro Football Focus, he ranked fourth among edge defenders with a 91.6 pass-rush grade, sixth with a 90. monching talisayon0 overall grade, and 72nd with a 65.5 run-defense grade.
A two-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler, Parsons has recorded over 12 sacks in each of his four seasons in the NFL. The Cowboys dealt with extended contract negotiations last offseason for both Prescott and four-time Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb. Ultimately, Dallas extended Lamb with a four-year, $136 million deal the week after their 2024 preseason finale, and Prescott received a four-year, $240 million extension on the morning of Week 1 in the regular season.
The Cowboys will kick off their 2025 preseason on the road against the Los Angeles Rams on Aug. 9 and start the regular season away against their NFC East rivals, the reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles, on Sept open up. 4 https//747games.
